The second generation of internet technology, known as Web 2.0, is characterized by interaction, networking, collaboration, and dynamic user-generated content. The term “Web 2.0” has been used since 2004 to describe the second generation of internet technology. While websites originally served as repositories of static information, the Web 2.0 environment is characterized by interaction, networking, collaboration and dynamic user-generated content. Typical Web 2.0 technologies include blogs, wikis, tags, mashups, and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. I would like to develop an appropriate model of leadership for the Web 2.0 culture and the generation that has come of age in this culture. In doing this, I have studied postmodern culture and the characteristics of postmodernism, web 2.0 culture, and the younger generation. Web 2.0 culture is characterized by interest in learning more about the self, interest in communicating with others, and a focus on the group and on community. The interest in developing a sense of identity, when combined with an interest in networking and interacting with others, can be connected to social responsibility in general, and more specifically to a deep ecclesiology that emphasizes the communal nature of the body of Christ. Different situations demand different kinds of leadership. In this web 2.0 culture and generation, I would suggest that a leadership style that addresses people`s expressed desires for both emotional and spiritual well-being and intellectual stimulation would be appropriate. Second, the dynamic and ever-changing culture of web 2.0 can be blended with a culture generated by servanthood. Thus, I would like to suggest that a leadership suitable for web 2.0 that can help create emotional well-being through developing Christian identity, also generate trust culture through listening, and encourage organizational changes through empowering. Christian leaders who feel the need to serve within this culture and engage these people can draw on a wide range of biblical resources, particularly those that relate to our relationship with God and with others.
