The message of Ezekiel 37:17-28 is a sign-act for insisting on the unification of the two nations, which was the main program of Josiah`s reform. This is the historical reflection of Ezekiel with his traditional heritage to confirm future hope. Ezekiel uses the word #[e for his sign action of the reunification of the two kingdoms. I need to turn the exploration of the tree from the time of Ezekiel in order to assume the linguistic understanding of the tree which has both the lexical meaning and the textual meaning. Ezekiel responded to the situation between the Northern Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom by using the metaphor of the trees. In this paper, I am focusing on the meaning of the trees and the setting in Ezekiel 37:17-28 to understand the act of Ezekiel. While the trees can be interpreted in various meanings, I emphasize the tree of life and tree of the priests for the unification of the two nations. The setting of Ezekiel 37:17-28 is related to Josiah`s reform that was interested in the two kingdom`s reunification. The reunification of the two kingdoms was the proper statement for the hope and restoration of the Ezekiel 33-39. The relationship between the future and God appears in verse 22; “I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over them all. Never again shall they be two nations, and never again shall they be divided into two kingdoms (NRS).”
