The objective of this study is to compare activities of ``the capable woman`` in Proverbs 31:10-31 and female activities during the Goryeo Dynasty. Here, we view the specific model of "the capable woman" to be Ruth of the edited canon. As in Proverbs chapter 31, the women of the Goryeo Dynasty were also responsible for the household economy, allowing their husbands to concentrate on public activities. In both Proverbs and the Goryeo Dynasty, weaving was a highly critical activity. The weaving industry was important because lengths of cloth were accepted as money and it was possible to accumulate greater wealth through the use of slave labor. The weaving industry was a key industry in commerce and trade beyond the household economy. The management of household staff, including slaves, was important to women in both Proverbs and the Goryeo Dynasty. Using these personnel, the women managed agriculture, weaving, commerce and trade. In addition, Proverbs 31 highlights the charity of wise women as an essential act in society. Similarly, charity took root in the Goryeo period as a method of entertaining guests and helping relatives. Under the influence of Buddhism, charitable acts were encouraged. Female property rights were emphasized in both Proverbs 31 and the Goryeo Dynasty. Women`s property rights were strongly established in the Goryeo period, while Proverbs assumes permission by the husband.
