The Bible is the most important body of divine revelation and the fruit of divine communication towards humankind. But, regretfully, the Bible is the book which had been written more than two thousand years before this generation. Therefore it is unavoidable that the world of the Bible is a quite strange one to the readers of these days, for they know little about the writers of the holy scriptures, their times, the history and culture of those days, and, furthermore, the Bible is written in different languages from modern languages. It is certain that the Bible is the Word of God, but because it is written in human languages, it is almost impossible to understand the various meanings of the texts of the Bible completely. This situation calls for the correct and thorough translations of the Bible. Actually the Bible has been always translated newly into various languages since its first formation. And the work to revise the existing translations in accordance with the changed languages and grammars will be continued permanently. There is no exception with the New Korean Revised Version(=NKRV), published first in 1998. As previously stated, the translation of the book of Hosea in NKRV includes some errors which do not completely reflect, and, sometimes, even distort the right meaning of the Hebrew texts. Certainly NKRV is a much more improved translation than the Korean Revised Version, but it is also an undeniable fact that NKRV has some translation errors unfaithful to the original Hebrew texts. Korea Bible Society which published NKRV for the first time in 1998 should manifest enthusiasm for correcting the translation errors at any time, whenever they find those errors. And, if possible, they must do their best to collect extensive opinions from the biblical scholars in Korea and to make nearly perfect Korean translation of the Bible with the help of those opinions. Such an effort would be the highest service in delivering and teaching correctly the Bible, the Word of God to Korean Christians.
