This study was carried out to investigate the distribution and characteristics of plant resources in Mt. Baekbyeong (Gangwon, Taebaek) from June, 2011 to September, 2012. The vascular plants were summarized as 403 taxa, including 86 families, 247 genera, 342 species, 4 subspecies, 48 varieties, and 9 forms. Among the investigated 403 taxa, 8 rare and 12 endemic plants were included. 66 species of specially designated plant by the Ministry of Environment were also investigated. The naturalized plant were 14 taxa, and urbanization index and the percent of naturalized plant species was estimated 4.4 and 3.5%, respectively. The usefulness of the plants of the 403 taxa listed consists of 178 taxa (44.2%) of edible plants, 162 taxa (40.2%) of pasture plants, 132 taxa (32.8%) of medicinal plants, 38 taxa (9.4%) of ornamental plants, 18 taxa (4.5%) of timber plants, 7 taxa (1.7%) of fiber plants, 5 taxa (1.2%) of miscellaneous plants and 2 taxa (0.5%) of industrial plants.
