This study investigated how stress hormone, life event depression and bone density were changed respectively by participating in sports among menopausal middle-aged women according to their life-styles and drew a following result analyzing what relationship between stress hormone (ACTH, Cortisol) and bone density occurs. First, as the three groups of the menopausal women (exercise, housewives, and career groups) continued to work out, life event depression was decreased the levels of stress hormone in an exercise group in examination and school factor, health problems factor, economy and jobs factor, residential environment factor and family conflict factor of 12 sub factors; however, a housewives group and a career group were increased the levels of stress hormone. Second, change of blood concentration of stress hormone ACTH and Cortisol were increased in the housewives and career groups while they were decreased in the exercise group. Third, the lumber bone density was maintained and increased in the exercise group and decreased in the housewives and career groups. Fourth, there was a reversed correlation between stress hormone and bone density. It means, the higher in levels of stress hormone, the lower in levels of bone density. Overall, this study resulted in that participation in sports helps reducing stress and prevents from bone loss instigated by change of hormone in menopausal women.
