This study aimed to investigate the effect of combined theraputic exercise on volume of edema, DASH and quality of life for middle-aged women with upper lymphedema after breast cancer surgery. The 14 middle-aged women involved voluntary in this study and the they were divided into two groups(n=7 pre group). The combined exercise program was implemented over 4 weeks, 60 minutes per day, with 3 types of exercise for stimulation whereas control group was performed a classical decongestive physiotherapy in a same day. For data analysis, the mean and standard deviation were estimated; 2 way ANOVA mixed design was carried out. The results are below; First, The level of edema volume was not significantly reduced on within, between, interaction effect in the group. Second, score of DASH was not significantly reduced on group, interaction effect whereas time dependent effect was significantly reduced. Third, score of Role limitation-Physical, Role limitation-Emotional, Social Function and General Health was not significantly increased on group and interaction effect whereas Physical Function, Vitality and Bodily Pain was significantly increased in time dependent effect. also, Mental health was significantly increased on combined exercise whereas classical decongestive physiotherapy group was significantly decreased. In conclusion, we were found that combined therapeutic exercise could improve or maintain upper limb functions and quality of life for middle-aged women with upper lymphedema after breast cancer surgery.
