The purpose of this study was to investigate the applicability of the combination practice as a intervention for learning facilitatory effect by analyzing the effect of modeling with physical practice on the learning of three cascade juggling. 40 male college students participated as subjects, and were randomly assigned to one of the four groups; Action Observation(AO), Physical Practice(PP), Action Observation with Physical Practice(AO-PP) and control, with 10 subjects in each group. The experiment was proceeded as following the sequence; pretest, practice during 4 weeks, and retention test after 1 week. Performance outcome scale(successful juggling cycle) and performance productive scale(movement pattern, ball flight trajectory pattern) were measured from all subjects. the results showed that AO-PP group was improved distinctively in juggling cycle, movement pattern, and trajectory pattern as practical session proceeds, and those improvement was maintained in retention test, which was carried out after 1 week. Whereas, other three groups did not reveal significant improvement in any measured items as sessions. Taken together, the results of this study suggest that modeling with physical practice can be more effective than any one practice when beginners learn the motor skill like cascade juggling, which need specific temporal-spacial movement pattern of both upper extremities for successful performance.
