The purposes of this study were to identify the differences in sport stress and exercise adherence according to demographic variables, and to examine to the effect of sport stress on exercise adherence of high school Teakwondo players. To achieve the purpose of this study, participants of this study consisted of high school Taekwondo players participating in competition games for Taekwondo during 2-month periods. By using convenience sampling, the data were collected from 400 high school Taekwondo players. Among 400 sets of data, except for 12 sets which lost some contents of the survey and were answered unfaithfully, 388 sets were valid samples. The instrument of this study was a questionnaire consisting of sport stress scale an exercise adherence scale. The following results were found from the analysis of the data by using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. First, among the demographic variables, there was a significant difference in sport stress according to gender. Also, there was a significant difference in exercise adherence according to gender, grade, and weight level. Second, sport stress had a significant effect on exercise adherence. Specifically, among the sub-factors of sport stress, restriction of time and unformal behavior were factors significantly influencing on predisposing exercise adherence of high school Teakwondo players. Also, restriction of time was a factor significantly influencing on enabling exercise adherence of high school Teakwondo players. Moreover, restriction of time and unsatisfied capability were factors significantly influencing on reinforcing exercise adherence of high school Teakwondo players.
