The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the physical self-concept of female swimmers on their exercise emotion and life satisfaction. The subjects in this study were 355 women who had a swim at a sports center located in Gangwon province. As a result of making a factor analysis, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, one-way ANOVA, correlational analysis and multiple regression analysis, the following findings were given: First, in terms of physical self-concept by age, those who were in their 20s and younger excelled the other age groups in self-esteem, and those who were in their 40s and up were ahead in the other factors. By term of exercise, those who had worked out for less than three to five years surpassed the others in sport competence, looks, muscular power and body image. As to frequency, those who exercised four times or more a week surpassed the others in every element except for body fat. By occupation, the stay-at-home homemakers were ahead of the others in sport competence, and those who worked in manufacturing industry outdid the others in physical activities and muscular power. Concerning exercise emotion by age, those who were in their 20s and younger were ahead of the others in exercise pride, and by term and occupation, those who had worked out for less than three years and who worked in the manufacturing industry outperformed the others in every factor. As to life satisfaction, only the exercise frequency made a difference to their life satisfaction. Those who got exercise six times or more a week found their lives quite satisfactory. Second, there was the strongest correlation between sport competence and body image, and the second strongest correlation was found between exercise pride and exercise delight. The third strongest correlation existed between life satisfaction and looks. Third, the overall exercise motion was most affected by sport competence, and life satisfaction was under the strongest influence of looks.
