The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between elementary school boy`s obesity and high school student`s obesity in man. Subjects of this study were high school students(n=558). According to their primary school period`s BMI(body mass index), subjects were divided into 9 groups(BMI 12.0∼12.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 12 ; 13.0∼13.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 13 ; 14.0∼14.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 14 ; 15.0∼15.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 15; 16.0∼16.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 16; 17.0∼17.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 17 ; 18.0∼18.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 18 ; 19.0∼19.9kg/㎡ group·BMI 19 ; group over BMI 20kg/㎡ ·BMI 20). The measurement items were BMI and it`s relationship. The measurement times of BMI were two, that is, the first year school days in primary school period and the second year school days in high school period. The results were as follows. First, if BMI were 12kg/㎡∼15kg/㎡ at the first year of elementary school days, the possibility of normal body weight at the high school days was significantly high. Second, from the BMI 16kg/㎡ at the first year of elementary school days, the possibility of overweight and obesity was significantly high. Third, BMI at the first year of primary school period was elevated about 6.57kg/㎡ at second year of high school period(elevation 0.657kg/㎡ per year). Fourth, the relationship between BMI of elementary school days and BMI of high school days was significant, that is, the relation was .502 and it`s significance was .01. From these results, I think it has some problems to classify elementary boys with BMI 12kg/㎡∼15kg/㎡ into underweight. And if boy at the first year of elementary school days were over BMI 16kg/㎡, and he must be prudent not to be overweight or obesity.
