The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of sports participation obstacle on the living satisfaction of adults. The subjects in this study were 1,367 female and male adults over 20. They were selected by cluster random sampling from among those who practiced a sport in public and private gymnasiums. The instnment used in this study were questionnaires that included five items regarding demographic characteristics, ten about obstacles to sports participation, and five covering living satisfaction. The statistical techniques employed in this study were cronbach`s α, one-way ANOVA and regression analysis. And Duncan test was conducted as a posttest. The findings of this study were as below : First, concerning the relationship of sports-participation barrier to living satisfaction, the social. financial and time obstacles, part of stumbling blocks to sports participation, had a lower relation with living satisfaction for the largest group(M=3.199, 3.421, 3.276). For the next largest group, the relationship between those factors and living satisfaction was on the average(M=2.953, 3.062, 3.012). The third largest group showed a higher relationship between the factors and living satisfaction (M=2.606, 2.795, 2.867). The relationship of family barrier to living satisfaction was rated by the largest group as average(M=2.506), by the next largest one as lower(M=2.478). and by the third largest group as higher(M=2.242). The personal obstacie was considered by the greatest group to have an average relationship with living satisfaction(M=2.600), and the next greatest group found there was a higher relation between the two(M=2.256). But that relationship was rated as lower by the third largest group(M=2.236). Spccifically, five subfactors made a statistically significant difference(p=0.000), and Duncan test also showed there was a significant gap. Second, in case of social barrier, the lack of facility space and of sports program generated a difference to living satisfaction at the 5% level of significance. The regression model made a 52% prediction. Third as to financial obstacle, living satisfaction varied with income level and expense range at the 1% and 5% level of significance respecively. The regression model made a 71.4% prediction. Fourth, regarding time restriction, the lack of time and holidays yielded a significant difference to living satisfaction at the 5% and 1% level of significance respcctively. The regression model made a 26% prediction. Fifth, concerning family barrier, the lack of understanding and joint participation from family made a difference to living satisfaction at the 5% and 1% level of significance. The regression model gave a poor prediction by 7.6%. Sixth, for personal obstacle, living satisfaction was different according to the lack of enthusiasm and of technical skill on the 1% and 5% level of significance respectively. The regression model a poor prediction by 7.1%.
