The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among recreational sport participation, self-efficacy, and self-accomplishment in adolescent. For this purpose, we sampled 469 (originally 500) students who attended at 10 different high schools in Taegu area on May, 2000 using stratified cluster random sampling method. To test the self-efficacy, two questionnaires were adopted from Lee(1998),the korean version of Mahoney(1988)`s physical self-efficacy questionnaire, and So(1996), the korean version of Sherer et al. (1982)`s general self-efficacy questionnaire. The questionnaire to measure self-accomplishment was also adopted from the study of Min(1986). The statistical techniques used in this study for analyzing the collected data were reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, ANOVA, ANCOVA, and standard multiple regression analysis. Results of the study shows; First, according to the populational statistical characteristics, a partial difference (p<.05) are found in self-efficacy (sex, education, and income), and self-accomplishment(sex, school year, education, and income) of recreational sport participants in adolescent. Second, although no difference is found on self-efficacy in terms of recreational sport type, the level of participation affected physical self-efficacy (p<.001) and the frequency of participation affected general self-efficacy (p<.05) individually. Third, there are meaningful relationship between participation of recreational sport and self-efficacy. Team sport participants showed higher self-efficacy than the individual sport participants. In addition, Longer period (p<.05) and stronger sport activity participation (p<.001) increased the self-efficacy level. Forth, there are meaningful relationship between self-efficacy and self-accomplishment of recreational sport participants. There are linear relationship(p<.001) between physical self-efficacy and total self-accomplishment.
