Males and females must have an equal claim to participate in a variety of sports and may seek the challenges presented by competitive sports. As persons, women deserve the same respect and concern as men in pursuiting excellence through the challenge of athletic competition. To achieve the ideal of sex equality in sports, I`ll suggest the following on the basis of theories of "androgyny" and °assimilationism". Firstly, on the view of assimilationism, sex-blind teams are defensible in the aspect that any distinctions shouldn`t be made on the basis of sex in taking part in various athletic programs. It is fair to both men and women, for they are treated not on the basis of sex but on the basis of characteristics of the individual. It provides less strong or smaller men who are actually excluded from the top levels of competition between men with the equal opportunities to compete with women of roughly same physical conditions. It also provides the equal opportunities to top elite women who are thought to be qualified for being able to compete with men at the high levels of competition to express their physical excellence and develop their capabilities. Secondly, If the idea of sex blindness was implemented throughout society, it would not matter that few women played at the higher levels of athletic competition. In other words, in sex blind recognition, when an individual`s sex would be really regarded no important in our society, it would not be important that virtually all the top athletes were male. sex distinction doesn`t count and equal opportunities can be provided depending on the characteristics of each individual based on the ideal of androgyny Thirdly, a lot of efforts should be made to redefine our catalog of major sports which has a built-in bias towards athletic activities favoring men and promote female-dominance sports like gymnastics, skating, diving, and so on, which give the advantage to an individual having small size, beauty, flexibility, balance, and low center of gravity. It also should be sought to assimilate male dominance sports with androgyny. In order to achieve it, various methods-rules, system, procedure, protection equipment and etc. should be searched out in different ways. In addition, through the development of a wide variety of sports and athletic programs which are not biased in favor of male physiology, it is possible to change individual preferences and to accommodate them to such activities of female-dominance. In conclusion, as long as no discrimination takes place, men and women have been treated by the same standards and so have no ground to complain of inequity. On this view, sex equality in sports requires that we pay no attention to the sex of participants.
