This is mixed longitudinal study to clarify physical growth, Socio-environmental factors and genetic factors that affect physical development. One thousand and one hundred three boys, range from 9 to 15 years of age, who were students of elementary and junior high scools in Pusan, Korea ware used in this study. In the studt, a self-administered questionnaire was developed to investigate the status of family, home, physical exercise, daily play activity nutrition intake and hereditary influence by 74 items which includes 8 physique, 14 physical fitness, and 52 items of living condition. From 1%6 to 1989,4 times investigation of individual records was done. Results of the study were as following: 1) Socio-environmental factors which includes daily activities, physical exercise, nutritional status were found considerably important domeins that affect to muscular strength and balance development during late childhood. However, physical growth showed the highest degree of contributions to physical development for the adolescent in which are appeared peak velocity period. After peak velocity period, according to the age, socio-environmental factors which are involved daily activities, physical exercise, nutritonal status tened to be superior to the physical growth and genetic factors. 2) Socio-environmental factors and physical growth wewe found considerably important domains that affect to musclar endurance and endurance development from later childhood to adolescence. 3) Socio-environmental factors which includes daily activities, physical exercise were found considerably important domains that affect to agility, speed, and flexibility development from later childhood to adolescence. 4) In the period, the comunality score for the physical development of the elementary school children was higher than that of the middie school students.
