Due to the severity of the environmental pollution and global energy crisis, the photovoltaic system has become one of the most important renewable energy sources. Although solar photovoltaic technology is one of the matured technologies, low efficiency and initial high cost factors have made it less attractive as an alternative source to the energy users. To get the maximum available solar power from the photovoltaic arrays is most critical point in solar PV system. For this, solar power generating system needs to be operate at maximum power output point. Maximum power point is highly dependent on the geographical location and weather conditions such as solar irradiation, temperature and shading. Although different techniques have been developed, very little literature is available on the comparison of these techniques based on efficiency, response time and reliability. In this paper comparative study of two different MPPT techniques is presented that are currently in use in solar PV systems. The methodology adopted for comparative analysis is as follow: initially current and voltage measuring circuits are designed and connected with Arduino mega 2560 to get the desired power readings. Then power from PV panel is given to Lab-Volt EMS and different MPPT designed sketch codes are employed using Arduino on this solar PV power under real time varying temperature and insolation conditions to study the effectiveness of these under consideration MPPT techniques.
