The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effects of between physical activity and lifestyle factors on the clustering phenomenon of the metabolic syndrome(MS) risk factors in office male workers. A total of 380 office male workers aged over 30 years were consecutively recruited from those who spontaneously registered health program at the A office. All the participanis were gathered by self-administered questionnaire including smoking, alcohol, family history. Physical activity pattern such as low, modrate, vigorous, total physical activity time was assessed by self-report in the international physical activity questionnaire(IPAQ). The data of the measured variables were expressed as mean(±SD) using Independent t-test and one-way anova to compared between group difference and expressed as odd ratio(OR) using logistic regression for analyzed to relative risk between lifestyle risk factors and physical activity on metabolic syndrome. Physical activity levels in two groups comparisons showed that activity group had better means in blood pressure, waist circumference, triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, High-density lipoprotein cholesterol than inactivity group. Lifestyle risk factors in smoking alcohol, family history showed that people who never smoke, consume less alcohol, no family history had better means in blood pressure, waist circumference, triglycerides, fasting blood glucose, High-density lipoprotein cholesterol than other group. In summary, Regular physical activity and proper lifestyle habits can help prevent MS in office male worker.
