Recently, a new tuning method for fixed low-order controllers (like PID and first-order controller(FOC)) based on the method of moment matching has been presented. The tuning rule provides analytical formulas of finding controller"s parameters, so that it satisfies the desired transient response. However, It is very difficult to determine the stability of the closed-loop system with the tuned controller because the plant model is not given except for pulse response data.
This paper considers a problem of approximately determing whether the controller tuned by the method of moment matching shall stabilize the closed-loop system. A simple method is represented and demonstrated by examples.
