In this study, in order to catch a characteristic sight of Hoeamsa Temple location, the feng shui feature is looked at through an on-site survey or literature consideration.
Hoeamsa Temple was founded in the end of Koryo and presented the standard of temple site selection the Koryo last stage and in early stages of Joseon Dynasty. Especially Hoeamsa Temple that crossed to Koryo and Joseon and hid the status as a royal family- temple prizes even the characteristic figure reflected in the feature and space composition of a royal family temple as it is. In particular, Hoeamsa Temple is the space which hid the most important feature where the king stayed at Hyeol-cheo(穴處, a concentrated point of energy on the ground), the character to which Hoeamsa Temple points by arranging a main hall is shown. This Hoeamsa Temple proves that site selection was performed using feng shui, and also presents the character of a temple collectively.
