Business Process Management (BPM) has been used as a methodology not only to design, execute, and control operating processes related to human, organisation, documents and other information sources, but also to support business procedure by improving to raise business productivity and enhance quality of product/service. However, there has been no significant demand of BPM in the construction industry as the traditional procurement process is characterised by inherent fragmentation in the process of delivering a construction project. Because of the generally fragmented responsibilities for design, construction and management of a construction project, information on design and construction cannot be reflected in process management process effectively and information on project running costs can be extremely scanty. Business process management (BPM) model is proposed as a systematic and holistic management approach to enable a construction company to integrate company management into process management from inception to completion so that the accumulated knowledge and information in the previous construction processes could be used to the needs of the clients of future projects through the BPM. This model embodies process efficiency and effectiveness through process engine, process monitor, process measure and process improvement. Based on the BPM model, management process is controlled and monitored by receiving, managing an actual budget, managing construction process, and settling the final completion price. The research findings are valuable to a public and private sector client who is seeking better value for money, encouraging efficiency and effectiveness of a business process and expanding competition based on long-term construction management.
