We investigate the wake phenomena of wind farm and its environmental effects to atmospheric boundary layer using large eddy simulation (LES). Through analysis of wind farm that wind turbines are resolved by actuator line method (ALM), we obtain the important coefficients of wind farm. Wind farm parameterization which contains the coefficients of wind farm is represented by imposing momentum sink on the mean flow and turbulent kinetic energy source which is substituted electricity from kinetic energy deficit. In the wind farm simulation, velocity deficits and interference between turbines are observed. Also, the characteristics of the wake are revealed by the iso-surface of vorticity magnitude and vertical profile of turbulent intensity. In the regional scale simulation applied by wind farm parameterization, it is observed that kinetic energy deficit suppresses the low-level jet and increases depth of the atmospheric boundary layer. To reveal the cause of increment in the depth of the boundary layer we conduct quadrant analysis and compare vorticity magnitudes at the four different heights.
