Most digital cameras have in-cam era-processors that are composed with numbers of parameters, to efficiently reproduce original scenes. Brightness, contrast, hue, saturation and sharpness are the most important parameters used. Among them, brightness and contrast are directly related to the light and the shade of final images. They also have direct effects on the preference and the impression of the images.
In this study, numbers of experiments has been done to find optimal values in brightness and contrast in order to enhance user's general preferences. Measuring the JND(Just Noticeable Differences) of skin tones, which are highly sensitive to changes, has been carried out, detecting and comparing level changes in brightness and contrast. Based on the results, we have derived best values and levels of each parameter and the best match or mix of the values. A male and a female has participated through the process to classify gender difference in preference cognition.
