This paper shows that the cultural difference between Korea and Japan is also reflected in the grammatical difference between Korean and Japanese language. It is pointed out that Japanese culture is more concerned about other people than it is in Korean culture such as in cultural aspects of the way of putting chopsticks on the table and the way of using someone elses bathroom. Under the grammatical
(especially semantic) aspect of the intention, and under the giver"s effort and the speaker"s profit, the difference is then analyzed to figure out the usage of Japanese -te kureru and the corresponding Korean -a/e cwuta in the relation with one of the semantic functions of -te kureru, "benefit".
The meaning of -te kureru means that the action of the proceeding verb is the action of another person and simultaneously show thanks and favour of the speaker. However, -a/e cwuta means the participant relating to the action of the given proceeding verb. This shows that -te kureru has more concerns about other people than -a/e cwuta.
