This study investigates football developments in South Korea and body conception from 1940s to 1970s in a historical perspective. Adopting qualitative research methodology, this paper analysed several documents about South Korean football such as newspapers, magazines, government policy papers, correspondences etc. to identify dominant discourse when the nation constructed its identity, international relations, and national development ethos in the changing socio-political context. For the purpose, this paper tried to explore about: 1) the historical backgrounds of South Korean football which lead us to see general and peculiar aspects of Korean football and the concepts of body of players; 2) how discussion on body and football development defined, debated, and resisted (re)emerging conceptions of football development, morphology of peoples and players, physical training; 3) institutional discourse which dominated and exercised power by constructing football and the nation in specific period of time: from 1940s to 1970s.
