Literature reflects on times. Analyzing literature yields a better understanding of times and author’s personal perspectives. The author’s perspectives often reflect on his/her personalitiesand values. This thesis studies on Song Dynasty’s literature. Historically, the Song Dynasty experienced a radical change in its social norms and culture. Various literatures from this era prove such upheaval. Generally speaking, it could be argued that Song Dynasty’s literature only expanded quantitatively and lost purity. In the time of chaos, Qingzhao Li tried to establish and set up rules about classical Chinese poetry in the early Song dynasty. Around the end of Southern Song Dynasty period, Ji?ng Kui was also tried to inherit Qingzhao’s heritage and thoughts. At least, many scholars have believed that Ji?ng Kui is heavily influenced by Qingzhao’s works and thoughts. Here, this thesis questions as to whether the two authors have any relevance and affinity to each other. Furthermore, it tries to explain and prove that Ji?ng Kui actually selectively chose and followed Qingzhao Li’s style and works to better improve and expand his own works.
