The purpose of this study was to analyze vertical ground reaction force variables according to surface and jump rope type. Independent variables for this study included surface type (urethane and aluminum) and jump rope variables (length, thickness, handle length, and weight). Dependent variables were vertical ground reaction force variables (number of peaks, passive peak value, impact integral, active force peak value, active integral, active loading rate, and active decay rate). Ground reaction force variables were measured via a force platform (Kistler 9284b, Switzerland). Statistical analysis was conducted using 2x4 MANOVA and LSD was used for post-hoc analysis. In here, the significant level was set as P<.05. There was a statistically significant difference between the number of passive peaks and surface type (F=12.554, p<0.00). Urethane surfaces had a significantly lower number of passive peaks. There was also a statistically significant difference between active decay rate and jump rope types (F=3.949, p<0.01). The lightweight puzzle jump rope (135g) presented a significantly lower active decay rate than other jump ropes. Using the lightweight puzzle jump rope and urethane surface maximize the benefits of this exercise.
