The purpose of this study was to understand and conceptualize Chemyon(social face) in the leisure activity, golf as a determinant, to predict leisure behavior. In-depth interview targeting six golfers aged over mid-thirties was conducted. The results showed that five themes of Chemyon have been extracted: personality(consideration, formality, self-respect), capability(golf skills, economic strength, rule abidance), prestige(personal ostentation, competition), relationship (relationship with companions, awareness of others) and individual(disposition). These results reflect how Chemyon has been observed as having influence on individual`s behaviors through interpersonal relationships. In Korean societies, Chemyon is an essential social ingredient in which one must be aware of others and their perceptions because the phenomena and notion of Chemyon pervade widely in the social contexts of interpersonal behavior.
