In this study, from total 250 housewives residing in Seoul, data about leisure activities and life-satisfaction were collected through the questionnaires of a self-administration method and in the result of data analysis, findings are as follows: First, regarding the elements significantly influencing the leisure activities of I ∼ IV types of married couples, there are two kinds elements-the elements of leisure function and the elements of impediment It appeared that in case that a housewife has a job and there is no cooperation in household duties and child-raising by her husband, the housewife`s satisfaction at her life is low. It appeared that in case that a housewife has a job and there is good cooperation in household duties and child-raising by her husband the housewife`s satisfaction at her life is highest in a IV type of married couple. Second, it appeared that the impediment of time is the most influential factor to prevent housewives from their participating in leisure activities, and regarding the function of leisure, a N type of married couple has an opinion that participation in leisure activities also contributes to the improvement of their ability. Third, it appeared that the housewife`s expenses for monthly leisure activities is less than 50,000 regardless of types of married couples, a I type of married couple has an opinion that they have sufficient time to participate in leisure activities even on weekdays, and however, in other types of married couples, they have an opinion that they have no sufficient time to participate in leisure activities on weekdays. Also it appeared that I - IV types of married couples have sufficient time to participate in leisure activities on both weekdays and weekends. Fourth, it appeared that the reasons for housewives to participate in leisure activities are `for the harmony or unity of family members(59.3%)`, `for finding the effect of life(47.1%)`, `for keeping good company with other people(40.2%)`, in the order from the biggest reason.
