In the human body training, the function and movement of lower limb which support the body weight and keep good posture are extremely important to a dancer of lower limb, the knee joint, which controls the rhythm of movements through flexion and stretching, is one of the most active and delicate joints and is highly susceptible to injuries, and so, if once injured, it is very difficult to be recovered. Nevertheless, many dancers have little knowledge on this fact and they are facing toward such painful knee joint injuries due to their excessive movements and overexercises simply in the pursuit of highly technical skills. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to figure out the structure and function of the knee joint and the causes of injuries, and to provide not only the treatments but also the preventive measures for possible future injuries. The causes of knee joint injuries are : Fatigue, bad posture in turning-out movement, excessive movement which comes from the mal-alignment of ill-formed legs, sudden turning from one movement to another, muscle strain due to the psychological stress, insufficient physical strength, and lack of warming up and cooling down. Kneejoint injuries are devided into acute injuries and chronic injuries. Those injuries are knee sprain, knee fracture, dislocation of kneecap(patella), semilunar cartilages, crucial ligaments rupture, superior and lateral collateral ligaments rupture, house maid`s knee and etc. Conclusively, the most important thing for the dancers to remember is to get familiar with the causes of injuries and to try to remove those causes by strengthening their physical strength through accumulation of strength in pursuant to the law of $quot;Load increasing$quot;, by upgrading the flexibility. which widens the joint range of movement, muscle endurance, and cardiopulmonary endurance, and by performing enough warming up and cooling down exercises before and readjustment. exercises after each dancing.
