The purpose of this paper is to examine the voice of community, communal love, through the relationship between L and other characters. In Love, L, an ancestor spirit, interferes in the character’s lives to make peace between the characters in dispute. Morrison suggests a hopeful vision which has a healing and love. L, who represents Morrison’s voice, is the voice of community. She conveys an African-American mother’s wisdom and renews a communal spirit. The marriage between Heed and Christine’s grandfather Cosey destructs the bonding love and friendship between two girls. But at the end of Love they stay connected again through Junior’s catalytic action. Two girls’ deep and profound bonding is connected with the “sweet Cosey child” within. Sandler’s open communication passed on through community triggers Romen to care for others following his mind within. Romen’s acceptance of Junior’s wound, her cloven foot, is according grace and love that gives impetus to Junior’s transformation. Junior is identified with the “sweet Cosey child.” Morrison finds in like Junior the possibility of an unbound love.
