In case excavation is carried out after reclamation of soft ground, ground failure occurs in the backfill though earth retaining wall is installed. In order to minimize this, after the application of bearing pile, a laboratory model test is carried out, and then prevention effect is examined closely. A calibration chamber was filled with clay. And a case of not being reinforced and a case of being reinforced with bearing pile was established, and then the settlement, pore water pressure, and earth pressure of backfill was measured according to excavation by using measurement system. According to the model test results, in case of being reinforced with bearing pile, it was estimated that excavation stage increased and the settlement of backfill decreased in comparison with the case of not being reinforced. Pore water pressure was not largely related to whether to be reinforced. And settlement rate was shown to be low. Besides, excavation depth had very big effect on the backfill. And it was estimated that settlement increased, as distance from the excavated place became short.
