This is a study on the quasi-affix wei which appears frequently in the network and the press lately. According to the secondary relationship, there are three kinds of the weiX words family. First, the micro-group, which is affected by loanword. Secend, the weibo-group, based on the micro-group, which is restricted to the field of microblog. Third, the grassroots-group, an abstraction from the weibo-group, which expresses the affect of the network and the emotion of the public.
The word-formation of weiX includes derivation and integration. Micro-group is the typical way of derivation while the weibo-group and the grassroots-group are created by the way of integration. Cognitively the weibo-group is a kind of metonymy. and the grassroots-group is a kind of metaphor.
Wei in weiX words can be thought of as a quasi-affix under three headings: meaning, structure and function. WeiX words can be made as necessary as possible, and each word can be understood by the combination of the meaning of wei and the meaning of the base word.
