After graduation from a community college in Korea, most of the students aim to get a job. Last year, 60.9% of all graduates went to work. But, managers often say that new comers have no tenacity enough to harmony with others; especially, in tourism industry and they require them to learn some courses related to etiquette. Therefore, almost all of the colleges include such courses for etiquette as basic(life) etiquette, etiquette for workplace, and international etiquette.
The study examines whether a course of life etiquette is important for the student in a community college by survey. The data were collected from ‘I’ college in Inchon and consist of 400 samples including department of tourism management, hotel management, aviation management, and airline cabin service.
The study concludes that all students agreed a course of life etiquette was very important in school life and to get a job in service industry. Besides, the students in department of airline cabin service marked higher point than others.
