There are some studies related to research quality by varied scholars. Among them, a research method that has not been explored is that of the identification of the assumptions of statistical methods used in past research. The purpose of this study is to analyze the assumptions of underlying statistical methods of the six advanced statistical analyses most commonly used in empirical survey research and compare the two representative journals, Journal of Tourism Sciences in the same group of Korea from 2006 to 2010 and Tourism Management in tourism and hospitality academic community of English- speaking countries. Despite a large number of publications, based on the criteria of statistical assumptions provided by Tabachnick and Fidell, the presence or absence of statistical assumptions was determined. As a result, both journals appear to be leaning toward quantitative research more than either qualitative or mixed studies. They also focus mainly on sample size, regardless of the importance of other statistical assumptions required for individual advanced statistical analysis.
