In this paper, first a system for finger personal identification is introduced and in second step, an algorithm for finger-vein authentication is developed. This system, takes advantage of an infrared LED light source to show the blood vessel under the finger skin, so that an image of a finger vein can be captured. After image capturing, a proposed best-matching algorithm identifies the correct user finger among database images, and finally corresponding user finger can be distinguished. In conclusion, to verify the proposed system functionality, its output is compared with the existing finger-vein recognition system. The experimental results confirm that the proposed system has an acceptable performance for personal identification.
