The Korean Church is currently facing up a critical situation on the whole, just as we can know from the decline of social reliability, the loss of spiritual influence, the decrease of the church members and steady increase of the unchurched christian. It seems to be the influence of affluent economic life, the development of social welfare service and the reduction of birthrate, but it is not a definitive cause, because the members in catholicism and buddhism are even increased under the same situation.
So we have to find the underlying cause of the crisis of Korean Church within the church community. It is, for example, the qualities of a pastor, the disagreement of faith and works, the vulgar materialism and quantitative growth, the doctrinism and denominationa- lism, the lack of the passion for the church renewal, and the poor spiritual training program for the church members, etc. they brought about total crisis of Korean Church. In addition, they transmuted also the Gospel of the Kingdom of God into the Prosperity Gospel. As a result, Korean Church was turned away the true faith that requires the painful self-denial. In other words, the crisis of Korean Church is essentially the crisis of christian faith.
Therefore, this paper aims to restore the distorted faith in order to overcome the crises of Korean Church, but does not superficially criticize the corrupted phenomena of Korean Church. It will be established by the descriptions of the essence and type of faith, and also by the analyses of its characteristics.
