The possible dialogue between religion and science is discussed in the context of Western and East Asian civilization. It is argued that for a person carrying a subjective life should ask an ultimate question “Who am I, located where, and therefore, how should I live with what attitude?” and the possible answer is normally provided by the underlying civilization. But in Western civilization the answer is divided by science and religion, sometimes contradicting each other, while in East Asia the answer, avoiding such division, evolved to an abstract conception. It is suggested that a recombination of religion and science should be attempted, beginning with a dialogue, partly employing the East Asian attitude of undivided whole.
