This paper deals with the birth of the Society for Research in Dramatic Art. In this group had Yun Baeknam, Hong Haesung, Yoo Chijin, including people who called Haewoimunhakpa. Until now it was explained difference between Haewoimunhakpain and the others. Even though it is important the common point of those people, the common denominator didn’t discuss and explain. But it is important that can explain combination and birth the group. It based on an inner motivity that had same the theatrical direction which was the national theatre. It can realize from their discourse that was value of classics like the folk play or masque performance, was from characteristic of ethnic or national. It was same theatrical ideal which was the national theatre from the national theatre of Europe. It was the national theatre which made nation and nation-state. However, the group had thank it could be possible national theatre in the little theater movement and it was limit that they had the thought. Nevertheless, it showed that their same theatrical intention was a new modern theatrical movement against theatre libre movement.
