Objective: Purpose of this study is to find out workload and task completion time in accordance with automobiles’ various package locations of tactile button and touch button. Method: For the research, independent variables were package locations (steering wheel(Right), steering wheel(Left), center console, overhead console, center fascia(Bottom), center fascia(Top), crash pad, overhead console) and button type (tactile button, touch button). For dependent variables, amount of time that the ahead of eye was out of road was called task completion time which was objective measured value. For subjective measured value, workload was measured by using Cooper Harper Scale. Furthermore, seating buck was made by using automobile’s package location data. In order to investigate differences in workload and task completion time in accordance with automobiles’ various package locations of tactile button and touch button, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used. Conclusion: As a result, even though touch buttons on overhead console, and center console location fall behind in safety perception than other package location, touch button had shorter task completion time and less workload in supplementary task while driving on steering wheel(Right, Left), center fascia(Top) locations than tactile button Application: This study can be utilized as basic data for safety perception improvement guide plan when applying touch button in automobile.
