This paper describes the test results on in-plane shear responses of insulated concrete sandwich wall panels (CSWP) with corrugated glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) shear connector. The insulated CSWP are commonly consisted of two walls of concrete separated by a layer of rigid foam insulation and shear connectors used to provide integrity between the interior and exterior concrete wall panels. Each insulated CSWP specimens were tested under push-out loading, with bottom surfaces of the outer two concrete walls supported vertically, and a gap under the bottom surface of the middle concrete wall. In this study, type of insulation [expanded polystyrene(EPS) and extruded polystyrene with surface treatment(XPSS)], casting method (horizontal and vertical casting of concrete) and reinforcement cross-section of shear connector were considered as principal variables. And four types of corrugated shear connector with different width and pitch were used for insulated CSWP. The load versus relative slip response of the insulated CSWP has been established through push-out shear test. Test results indicate that insulated CSWP specimens with XPSS insulation show higher shear capacity than those with EPS insulation due to the relatively high surface roughness of XPSS insulation and vertical method of casting higher shear capacity than horizontal method. It was also shown that interfacial bonding between insulation and concrete walls has a significant effect on the in-plane shear resistance prior to GFRP connector’s working. In-plane shear capacity of insulated CSWP increased with increasing cross-sectional area of shear connector.
