First, there was difference in perfectionism according to personal characteristics such as gender, age, participation period, and participation time. Female than male and older people than younger ones showed higher other-oriented perfectionism. Second, perfectionism significantly affects sport emotion. Self-oriented perfectionism affects positive emotion. other-oriented perfectionism positively affects positive emotion and negatively affects negative emotion. Socially prescribed perfectionism positively affects negative emotion. Third, perfectionism significantly affects performance. Self-oriented perfectionism positively affects all sub-factors of performance and other-oriented one negatively affects all sub-factors of performance. Fourth, sport emotion significantly affects performance. Negative emotion negatively affects all sub-factors of performance. All in all, it was found that personal characteristics affect perfectionism and both perfectionism and sport emotion were directly linked to performance.
