The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of participation of a line dance program (line dance group, n=18, control group, n=23) on the metabolic syndrome risk factors, blood inflammatory markers, and senior living fitness factors during 12 weeks. Analysis of the metabolic syndrome risk factors, there were significant interactive effects according to the group and time in the waist circumference(F=4.705. p<.05), systolic blood pressure(F=4.039, p<.05), diastolic blood pressure(F=4.039, p<.05), HDL-cholesterol(F=5.070, p<.05) and glucose(F=3.955, p<.05) level. However, a statically significant effect was not found in the triglyceride level. In the blood inflammatory markers, there were significant difference according to the time in C-reactive protein(F=4.450, p<.05) and fibrinogen(F=5.993, p<.01), while the white blood cell had no significant difference. In analysis of the senior living fitness factors, there were significant differences according to the group and time in 6m walking(F=3.760, p<.05), sitting and standing on chair(F=30.709, p<.OO1), lifting dumbbell(F=25.085, p<.001), grasping hands at back(F=3.900, p<.05), 244㎝ going and returning(F=14.255, p<.001), while the standing with one foot had no significant difference. Therefore, we suggest that the line dance programs of 12 weeks could be recommended for positive improvement and enhancement of metabolic syndrome risk factors, blood inflammatory markers, and senior living fitness factors in Korean elderly men.
