Pak Eun Sik(朴殷植) constructed his unique many systems of thoughts including “Daedong Thought(大同思想)”, mixing western religion, Christianity and philosophy based on Korean Neo-Confucianism and the doctrines of Wang Yang Ming. Especially, after being in Seoul in 1898, he studied the relation of modern Japan and the doctrines of Yang Ming and till his death in 1926 he wrote his thought and thinking from this point of view.
Though there are many researches and papers on Pak, there are not enough for the attempt to consider his thought with the flow of times. So this paper is meaningful to notice his Daedong thought on understanding conflict and solution about particularities and universality in the early 20th century in Korea. And furthermore I prove that Pak’s Daedong thought was planned according to Korean demands and review the value of modernity in respect of Korean traditional confucianism.
