Modern public libraries have been changing as libraries by focusing on users such as exhibition, watching videos, taking cultural classes and leisure etc except its own general roles such as reading and lending materials of public libraries in the past according to development of economy and culture, and the boundary of libraries has been expanding, so the trend various cultural contents for its role is in the form of complex cultural space. In addition, it is more than just complexation with facilities including simple cultural functions and combines with facilities of commercial purpose and public cultural welfare facilities. Due to this trend, studies on complexation of public libraries, but most of the studies are on the complex relations simply.
Thus, This study selected a total of 14 libraries, 4 libraries before 2000, 10 libraries after 2000, depending on the area by size among public libraries combined on the equivalent position in the library, in combination with at least one facility according to "Public culture and welfare facilities" through the analysis of vertical type, horizontal type and vertical·horizontal mixed type for 58 libraries of public libraries in 2011. The study analyzed the selected public libraries in four aspects such as combination forms of the building, classification according to the entrance, correlation analysis with complex facilities, types of internal circulation by deriving the characteristics by type by analyzing the form of a combination according to libraries combined with their other facilities and by stereotyping them depending on the features of each type.
Based on the above investigation, combination forms of domestic mixed public libraries were obtained from the six types of A~F, this researcher examined the advantages and disadvantages about each type.
Upon further research, it is proposed as data of construction guidelines in planning public library combination through in-depth analysis by reflecting area combined ratio in accordance with each room of mixed libraries and users" interviews needs assessment.
