This paper considered the orthography and phonological phenomenon shown in ‘Chojongryeyoram’ written in the early 19th century. The overall notation was not greatly different from the orthography of the 19th century. However, there was no appearance of the ‘ㅂ’ double consonant which was used frequently at that time at all. Also in this document, rather than the notation of Yeoncheol(sound based spelling), or Jungcheol(double spelling), the notation of syllabification mainly appeared. Also a phonological phenomenon which is confirmed in this document does not appear to be greatly different from general Korean of the 19th century. In the palatalization, the t-palatalization was actively realized, whereas the k-palatalization or the h-palatalization never appeared. Vowel rounding was actively realized; thus it was shown extensively. However, along with the generalization of the notation of syllabification, in many cases vowel rounding is not realized on the border of morpheme. Also, there were not many cases of peripheral consonantalization and nasalization.
