As noted in Polinsky(2012), subextraction is allowed in object control whereas this is strictly prohibited in subject to object raising. The CED theory argues that phrases which have undergone movement are not liable or frozen for further extraction (Nunes and Uriagereka 2000, Boskovic 2001, Stepanov 2007, Polinsky 2012). However, as Polinsky (2012) points out, phrase structures in which objects move outside of the VP creates a problem which cannot be solved by CED theory alone. In this paper, I argue that extraction out of a regular object is allowed because this is where the reconstruction effect occurs. I also claim that extraction out of objects which undergoes subject to object raising is not permitted because the raised object position is not the syntactic position where the reconstruction effect is attested. Lastly, I also argue that extraction out of DPs in other types of constructions such as passives, and wh-extraction is motivated by expansion in the scope of PPs out of which DPs are extracted. For this claim, I provide evidence from Korean involving kwanhan and kwanhaye.
