This paper reviews the possibility and actuality of the Korean model of cultural globalization in search of the sustainability of Hallyu as a critical alternative to cultural imperialism or exclusive nationalism. In face of the positive and negative response to Hallyu in the global context, the sustainable Hallyu consists in the fulfillment of hybrid dynamics of Hallyu. It notes the hybrid dynamics of Hallyu in its multi-dimensions of industry, politics, culture, aesthetics and religion and then explores the sustainable Hallyu as a Korean model of cultural globalization. It explains a Korean dialectical model of glocalization in Tonghak epistemology of Pury?n Kiy?n. Korean epistemology of negative identity deeply discloses dynamic paradoxical unity of glocalization, that is, globalization and localization of Hallyu in the global context. This article defines the glocalization of Hallyu as a hermeneutical application of the pradoxical unity of globalization and localization of Hallyu and thus suggests its ecological truth(the unity, diversity and interdependence of all things) and its religious truth(the universality of love, the particularity of justice and the sacredness of life) in Chich?n Ju Spirituality of Tonghak.
