It can be said that there is the question of being at the foundation of soteriologies developed on the basis of dualistic view. For a long time, this query has appeared as a question like “why are there beings at all, rather than nothing?” in the western philosophical tradition. As a matter of fact, it is the craving for being that has demanded elucidation of being. We can say, behind this elucidation, the hope that there should be beings is premised. That is, if being were not postulated, salvation could not be desired. In short, as for the western tradition, elucidation of being is closely connected with the requirement of salvation based on the craving for being.
On the other hand, in Jesus’ gospel with the coming of the kingdom of heaven and the change of mind[metanoia], salvation is developed in a non-dual world view, opening a new prospect of elucidation of being. The non-dual world view of Jesus’ gospel tries the elucidation of being from non-being; distinctively different from the western non-dualism that presupposes being. In other words, the former is non-being’s anti-ontological break-through, while the latter is being’s ontological break-through. Non-being’s break-through nihilizes elucidation of being together with the desire of everlasting being and declares that beings are provisional in their appearance and disappearance.
In this paper religious liberation is proposed as a practical phenotype of the non-dualistic salvation view originating from non-being in Jesus’ gospel. Here, the theoretical frame of religious liberation is non-dual discourse of religious liberation. In the explanation of this discourse it would be disclosed that while elucidation of being as being is impossible, only possible is non-being’s praxis. Actually the very important fact is born at the very place where elucidation of being is cast away; it is from this spot that non-being’s praxis is raised. Here, the praxis is the circulating movement between de-constructing and constructing based on de-constructing. The subject of this is minjung as non-being, already having been de-constructed by existing systems and discourses, so rather the potential which is also a virtuality. Jesus has already announced this virtuality toward minjung as follows : “You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)
