The everyday aesthetics starts from daily objects that have not received special attention. As such attention was not considered in traditional aesthetics, it can extend the scope of aesthetics. The objective of this thesis is to derive the definition of design and ontology of design, through the everyday aesthetics suggested by the recent aestheticians, Yuriko Saito and Arto Haapala. Saito approaches the everyday aesthetics under the themes such as activity, pleasure, and indeterminacy while Haapala states his views under the themes including strangeness, familiarity, and place. Their aesthetic studies on everyday are expected to complement the flaws shown from when the traditional aesthetics focuses on strangeness, with familiarity. The concept expected from the aesthetics of familiarity is the attachment. Human beings create places in the relationship with environment, and there they feel safety and attachment. Since we can see objects and design in the category of familiarity only when starting to pay attention to objects in the place related to our identities, it is an important basis.
