Companies should achieve development by focusing on economic, environmental, and social issues comprehensively. Not just generating profits, companies should pursue creative humanity oriented management based on the paradigm of creativity and confusion. With the advent of new paradigm, companies are putting more emphasis on humanity management. This research aims to explore the essence of humanity management by defining the concept of humanity management based on the imagination and insight of humanity based disciplines. This thesis also intends to probe the meaning of humanity management from the stand point of design by examining how humanity management is embodied in corporate design activities. For the purposes mentioned above, this study first summarizes literature review on the background and the concept of humanity management, and then presents seven essential components of humanity management. This paper explores a case study of SK to analyze the relationship between design and humanity management; it also investigates the visual identity of SK, which is persistently campaigning as a “socially responsible company”, from the standpoint of humanity management essential components. The research result sheds light on how design can be used as a way of communicating the philosophy and values of humanity management; it also implicates that design should be more valued as a way of flexible communication between consumers and society.
